The Institute of Geology and Palaeontology in the Faculty of Geosciences at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of

Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L, 65%)

commencing on 1 August 2024. We are offering a fixed-term part-time position (65% FTE) for 3 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

1. Work towards a doctorate on the topic of effect-directed analysis of polycyclic aromatic compounds in the environment by use of GC-APLI-MS and ecotoxicological tests
2. Publication of academic publications
3. Independent teaching in the study courses related to geo- and water sciences particularly in the fields of environmental analysis and geology
4. Support for BSc and MSc students
5. General laboratory work
6. General tasks related to the organization and academic self-administration within the working group of applied geology
   

Our expectations:

1. An MSc or German Diplom in the field of Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related field
2. Knowledge of and in best case experience with gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS)
3. Knowledge of environmental pollutants
4. Good written and spoken English, at least basic knowledge of German
5. The ability to work in a team, communication skills, an independent working style
