The Environmental Planning Department (106.02) in the Department of Environmental Protection (GB 3) of the City of Wuppertal is pleased to have the team supported by a motivated person to manage and coordinate projects and initiatives in the area of environmental protection.
An interesting and varied range of tasks awaits you, with close proximity to current and practice-related environmental topics. The team is happy to take on new projects/topics/tasks flexibly and currently consists of 5 employees. It works on the basis of scientific knowledge, combines this with practical experience and collaborates with internal/external bodies. Networking/public relations as well as communication and presentation are a natural part of the work. The team works in desk sharing and after a successful training period, they can work from home for two to three days a week.
External activities are also regularly carried out and the environmental law specialist in the environmental department offers assistance with legal issues.

Who are we looking for?
When you a master's degree or university diploma
- in the field of environmental protection/environmental science
- of geography
- environmental meteorology
- in the field of environmental engineer, or
- comparable subject areas

The following are also required:
- Professional experience in the development, implementation and support of projects and measures for noise reduction and/or air pollution control as well as other projects in the environmental sector
- Knowledge and experience in project management and public procurement of services (VOB, VOL, VOF, HOAI)
- Practice-oriented knowledge of using geographic information systems (e.g. ArcGIS and/or QGIS), using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and funding management
- Good knowledge of environmental law (in particular EU Environmental Noise Directive, EU Air Quality Directive, Federal Immission Control Act)
- Independent work with a high level of competence for scientific work, in particular for the preparation of concepts, strategies and basic surveys as part of tasks and projects in the environmental sector
We would be pleased if you also have the following skills:
- A high level of personal ability to quickly familiarise yourself with complex and non-specialist topics, to analyze and present the content
- Structured, goal-oriented and strategic thinking and action as well as a high quality orientation of your work
- Confident behavior when dealing with experts, political bodies, higher-level authorities and citizens
- Distinctive interest in diverse tasks combined with a wealth of ideas and a willingness to innovate

What core tasks await you?
- Independent project responsibility and coordination of noise action planning processes in accordance with the EU Environmental Noise Directive
- Independent development of measures for noise abatement and identification of noise reduction potentials using current scientific knowledge and research results as well as involving relevant stakeholders
- Independent development and development of cross-media environmental strategies and action plans in the area of air pollution control (e.g. reduction of air pollutants, adjustment of the municipal air measurement network)
- Collaboration in funding management for cross-media projects (acquisition, controlling, proof of use)
- Preparation of professionally qualified statements to the press, Council bodies, district representatives and other officials and the public

The position to be filled is rated according to EC 13 A/I.4, Fg.1 - TVöD or BES Group A 13 LBesG Career Group 2, 2 Entry Office (Higher Administrative Service.).
An interesting, diverse and practical area of responsibility awaits you. You work in a small team of currently 5 employees with different tasks, which provides you with collegial support, especially during the induction phase, but also beyond. The team works in desk sharing. After a successful training period, we offer you the opportunity to work from home for two to three days a week on a permanent basis. In coordination with our specialist advisor, you will also find further support, particularly with legal issues. In addition to office work, some of you work in the field.
