Your essential tasks

With the Aid program for wind energy sensitive types The state of Hesse is to implement protective measures for bird and bat species that are particularly endangered by wind energy plants throughout the priority areas of wind energy. Important types of measures in the aid program include neighborhood and nest protection and thus the establishment of use-free protection zones and the upgrading of the food habitat of these species. Outside the state forest, this is implemented on a voluntary basis with forest owners through the conclusion of contracts. Reports prepared by specialist authorities or service providers form the basis for the establishment of use-free protection zones. The Hesse-Forst state company supports the initiation of contracts with forest owners.

This is where your core tasks lie:

  • Identification of suitable sites and areas for use-free protection zones for red kite, wasp buzzard and various bat species
  • Addressing affected forest owners on the possible establishment of protection zones in coordination with the responsible forest office
  • Presentation of the goals and instruments of the species assistance program to interested forest owners
  • Support for contract initiation during talks/on-site appointments
  • Advice to forest owners on the implementation of regional master sheets
  • Participation in working groups to design the aid program
  • Close cooperation with the other administrative units involved, in particular HLNUG, HMUKLV and Upper Nature Conservation Authorities

your profile

prerequisites

  • completed scientific university degree (Master/Univ. diploma) in the field of forest sciences, landscape planning, land management, environmental and resource management or a comparable degree program
  • Knowledge of relevant national legislation and overarching EU legislation relating to the Birds and Habitats Directive
  • Knowledge of the ecological requirements of the specified species and their protection requirements and endangerment (causes)
  • Possession of a class B driving license, willingness to drive a service car and attend field service appointments, occasionally even outside normal working hours and on rough terrain
